The east end of 30A is where the road rejoins US-98 at Inlet Beach, and the towns get more polished as you go. Alys Beach is all white masonry houses and courtyards, Rosemary Beach is a walkable village of boardwalks and narrow lanes leading to the sand, and Seacrest and WaterSound fill in between with newer homes and townhouses set behind the dunes.
This side of 30A is closer to the Panama City airport than to Destin, which makes it easy for a long weekend. Rentals lean toward larger houses and carriage-house cottages inside the planned towns, plus beach homes in Inlet Beach. Camp Helen State Park, just over the Bay County line, sits between the Gulf and Lake Powell, one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida.
