Destin, 30A & Panama City Beach · 7,598 licensed rentals
Panama City Beach has the longest run of Gulf-front rentals on this coast. Front Beach Road follows the sand for miles with high-rise condos, older motels and beach houses side by side, while Panama City Beach Parkway (US-98) runs parallel inland. The two fishing piers and Pier Park, the shopping and dining district by the city pier, are the landmarks most people steer by.
At the east end, Thomas Drive heads toward St. Andrews State Park, with its jetties, a calm lagoon and the boat ride across to undeveloped Shell Island. Rentals along Thomas Drive and the lagoon side suit boaters and anyone who wants the quieter end of town. Panama City itself is across the Hathaway Bridge, and Mexico Beach is about an hour east for a slower beach day.
