Rainbow River & Dunnellon vacation rentals

The Rainbow River rises at Rainbow Springs State Park and runs about five and a half miles south to meet the Withlacoochee River in Dunnellon. The water holds near 72 degrees all year and is clear enough to count the eelgrass from a kayak, which is why it fills up with tubers in summer and swimmers, paddlers and snorkelers the rest of the year.

Dunnellon has the biggest concentration of licensed rentals in Marion County. Many sit on canals or right on the river with private docks, and the rest are a short drive from KP Hole Park, the county launch for tubing and paddling. If the river is the whole point of the trip, this is where to stay.

Things to do near your rental

  • KP Hole Park launch for tubes, kayaks and paddleboards

    Dunnellon rental questions

Can I bring a boat or kayak to a Rainbow River rental?

Many riverfront and canal homes have a dock, but that varies by property. Ask the owner through the listing before you book; motorized boats on the river also have to follow the state park and county rules on speed and zones.
